Hazelcast is seeking a visionary VP of Engineering to lead and scale its global engineering organization. This executive role is responsible for defining a multi-year technical strategy, leading the organization at the C-suite level, and ensuring the quality, performance, and resilience of Hazelcast's Java-based open-source in-memory real-time data platform. Key responsibilities span four domains: **Executive Technical Strategy & Product Delivery:** Define and champion a multi-year technology strategy aligned with business objectives and revenue growth. Collaborate with Product Management to drive technical direction of the product roadmap. Own end-to-end engineering delivery using agile methodologies for rapid, predictable, enterprise-scale releases. Maintain world-class standards for system quality, performance, security, and resilience. Provide executive oversight of core technical domains including distributed systems, high-performance Java, concurrency, streaming, and data structures. Manage the engineering budget and optimize resource allocation for maximum business impact. **Open Source Software Leadership:** Steward Hazelcast's open-source core with commitment to transparency, stability, and long-term compatibility. Balance commercial customer needs with global open-source community expectations. Serve as a prominent voice and advocate within the open-source and real-time data ecosystems. Convert user feedback from diverse production environments into clear engineering priorities. Maintain reliability across Hazelcast's multi-language client ecosystem. Champion exceptional developer and operator experience through documentation, release clarity, and community engagement. **Organizational Development & Leadership:** Lead, motivate, and manage a highly distributed global engineering team (majority UK-based with smaller EMEA teams). Foster a people-centric managerial approach and collaborative engineering culture. Instill a product-led, innovation-led ethos. Evolve organizational structure for maximum performance and scalability. Lead global headcount planning and talent acquisition. Build a robust leadership bench and succession plan. Identify, coach, and develop engineering directors and managers. Ensure teams are empowered, aligned with company goals, and receiving frequent, actionable feedback. **Go-To-Market and External Partnership:** Partner closely with CEO and C-level executives on engineering performance, technological risks, and strategic opportunities. Engage with enterprise customers and strategic partners to understand technical requirements and market positioning.
