Semperis is seeking a Head of DevOps to lead the DevOps function across a global organization. This is a senior leadership role requiring both strategic vision and hands-on technical depth.
You will manage a team of managers and senior individual contributors, owning the DevOps roadmap, organizational structure, and growth plan as the function scales. Key responsibilities include hiring, performance management, and career development for direct reports and their teams. You'll coach team leads on people and technical management, deciding when to delegate versus when to step in personally.
On the technical side, you'll own the DevOps roadmap by translating business priorities into infrastructure and delivery capabilities. You'll set technical direction for cloud architecture, CI/CD, and platform reliability across Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), Istio, and GitOps workflows. You'll make tooling, budget, and build-vs-buy decisions while defining KPIs, SLAs, and error budgets that connect infrastructure performance to business outcomes.
This role requires deep technical involvement in the hardest challenges—critical incidents, architecture decisions, and systemic issues. You'll review code and infrastructure decisions at a level that provides real feedback, lead root-cause analysis on major incidents, and mentor senior engineers directly on technical problem-solving.
You'll identify workflow friction and lead initiatives to resolve it, driving adoption of practices like GitOps maturity, Zero Trust, and observability standards. You'll serve as the primary bridge between DevOps and Engineering, Security, IT, and Product leadership, partnering on Zero Trust, PIM/RBAC, and WAF strategy.
Required: 8+ years of DevOps/SRE experience in SaaS or cloud-native environments; 4+ years in senior leadership managing managers or team leads; strong hands-on background with Terraform/Terragrunt, Kubernetes (AKS), Helm, and Istio; track record of leading organizational change; proven ability to mentor senior engineers and develop managers; strong cross-functional collaboration skills; experience with Zero Trust architecture, PIM/RBAC, and secure network configuration in Azure.
Preferred: Experience scaling a DevOps or platform function through a management layer; experience with Kafka, event-driven systems, and distributed systems architecture; background in identity, security, or compliance-heavy SaaS products; experience presenting technical strategy to executives; history of building internal platforms adopted by other engineering teams.
