Dataminr is seeking a VP of Defence Sales for the APAC region to lead and scale the company's presence in the defence market. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant growth potential, based in Australia (Canberra or Melbourne preferred) or Japan (Tokyo).
You will own the complete sales strategy and execution for the Defence vertical across APAC, driving growth and market expansion. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining high-level relationships with key defence customers, channel partners, and government agencies; navigating complex procurement processes; leading client mission and operational processes to integrate Dataminr's AI-powered intelligence platform into workflows; and providing thought leadership and business development to identify new opportunities.
You'll serve as the subject matter expert throughout the full sales cycle, own market leadership for sales teams, and partner with cross-functional teams (Sales Operations, Marketing, Product) to drive improvements. The role requires constant market awareness, competitive intelligence, and accurate pipeline forecasting in Salesforce.
Dataminr's platform uses advanced AI technologies—including ReGenAI (regenerative AI for real-time event briefs), Agentic AI (autonomous Intel Agents), and multimodal AI (detecting events across images, video, sensor data, audio, and text in 150+ languages)—to help organizations detect emerging risks and threats before they unfold. The company is trusted by two-thirds of the Fortune 50 and half of the Fortune 100.
You bring 10+ years of proven defence sales experience, extensive success selling to defence customers with strong negotiation and closing skills, and deep understanding of structured sales processes (MEDDPICC, Shipley, Miller Heiman). Solution selling expertise, proven revenue delivery, and an entrepreneurial mindset are essential. Enterprise software or SaaS experience is a plus. You're comfortable with travel as required and can influence across teams without positional authority.
