The Applied AI Architect role is a senior technical leadership position within OpenAI's customer-facing AI Architect team. You will serve as the primary technical advisor and long-term relationship owner for a named portfolio of enterprise customers, acting as the "CTO of your book of business." Working in partnership with Account Directors, you will own the technical strategy, customer journey, and path to production value across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, and agentic AI solutions. Key responsibilities include: leading discovery with customer executives and technical teams to identify and prioritize AI use cases tied to measurable business outcomes; developing comprehensive Applied AI Architectures spanning models, applications, data integration, security, privacy, governance, and deployment; guiding customers through technical evaluations, workshops, prototypes, and proofs of value; maintaining a focused use-case portfolio with clear success measures and adoption plans; building trusted relationships with CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, and engineering teams; coordinating support from deployment, implementation, enablement, and specialist teams; tracking adoption and customer impact; and sharing field learnings with Product, Engineering, and Research teams. You should have significant experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions architecture, solutions engineering, or technical account leadership. Strong software and cloud architecture foundations are essential, including APIs, distributed systems, data integration, security, and privacy. You need hands-on understanding of modern AI systems, frontier LLM models, agentic applications, and enterprise AI workflows, with ability to prototype and work confidently with Python or JavaScript. Experience guiding enterprise organizations from technical evaluation through production adoption, developing technical account plans, and expertise in relevant industries or digital-native business models is highly valued. The role requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment about when to go deep versus delegate, and collaborative work across disciplines. This is a hybrid role based in Singapore with 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is offered.
