Quantum Space is seeking an experienced Vice President of Avionics and Electronics to lead the strategy, development, integration, and production of electrical systems for next-generation spacecraft platforms. This is a key leadership role on the executive team, responsible for overseeing the design and delivery of flight avionics, power electronics, embedded systems, communications hardware, guidance/navigation/control electronics, and associated flight software interfaces.
You will lead a world-class multidisciplinary engineering organization from concept through launch, establishing technical direction, growing engineering talent, and maturing development processes. Key responsibilities include defining spacecraft avionics architecture and technology roadmaps, building and mentoring high-performing teams, overseeing design/analysis/development/integration/qualification of flight hardware, establishing engineering standards and verification methodologies, and ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards and mission assurance objectives.
You will partner with Systems Engineering on spacecraft architectures balancing performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability; drive design-for-manufacturing initiatives with Manufacturing and Supply Chain; support proposal development and customer engagements with government and commercial customers; manage departmental budgets and resource allocation; and evaluate emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred); 15+ years progressive engineering experience developing complex aerospace/defense/high-reliability electronic systems; 8+ years engineering leadership managing multidisciplinary organizations; demonstrated success leading flight avionics, embedded electronics, spacecraft, satellites, or launch vehicle development; strong technical expertise in spacecraft avionics, embedded computing, power electronics, communications systems, and electrical integration; experience managing full product lifecycles from concept through production and operations; proven ability to recruit and retain high-performing teams; understanding of systems engineering, requirements management, and risk management; excellent communication and executive leadership skills; ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
