Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world robots for industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. The company integrates hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate to deploy autonomous systems into real environments at scale. As a Staff Systems Integration Engineer, you will own the sensing suite and vehicle-level integration of Atoms' on-road autonomous platforms. You will take platforms from bench through first vehicle operation to commissioned fleet deployment, ensuring sensors, compute, networks, and actuation work together physically and electrically across both proprietary vehicles and OEM partner platforms. Key responsibilities include: • Vehicle-Level Integration: Own how sensing, onboard compute, vehicle networks, power distribution, and actuation integrate on on-road platforms from first bench through fleet deployment. • Sensor Suite Integration: Lead placement and field-of-view trade-offs, occlusion analysis, mounting and alignment tolerances, high-speed data and power interfaces, time synchronization, multimodal calibration across cameras, lidar, radar, and GNSS/IMU, and field health monitoring. • Platform Bring-Up & Commissioning: Drive technical bring-up of new and refreshed vehicle platforms, converting one-off builds into repeatable commissioning processes covering firmware, sensor calibration, safety signoffs, and autonomy software integration. • Validation & Test Infrastructure: Design and build hardware-in-the-loop benches, breakout hardware, and instrumentation so software and autonomy teams can develop safely without competing for vehicles. Define vehicle-level validation and regression criteria. • System-Level Debugging: Own triage and root-cause analysis across sensing, compute, networking, harnesses, connectors, and power, converting findings into design changes and documented corrective actions. • Deployment & Fleet Execution: Serve as technical anchor at test sites, customer demonstrations, and new-market launches, maintaining platform health and vehicle uptime. • Engineering Standards & Documentation: Produce integration design documentation, build instructions, and verification checks. Build tooling, pipelines, and dashboards for platform health visibility. Required qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience). 3+ years integrating, validating, and debugging sensing, compute, and vehicle systems on prototype and production vehicles in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, EVs, or at automotive OEMs/suppliers. Deep hands-on sensor integration experience across cameras, lidar, radar, and GNSS/IMU. Experience owning vehicle bring-up and commissioning end-to-end. Experience designing or building hardware-in-the-loop or bench test infrastructure.
