Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing longevity drugs for dogs. The company has completed two of three major FDA review sections for its lead program, LOY-002, and is targeting submission of the final section in late 2026.
You will serve as Vice President of Marketing, reporting to the VP of Commercial and leading a team of two. You will own the complete marketing and communications strategy for bringing the first longevity drug for dogs to market.
Your responsibilities include:
**Category Creation & Pre-Launch Strategy**: Build category awareness and understanding with two distinct audiences—veterinary professionals and dog-owning consumers. Develop messaging and positioning around aging as a treatable condition. Define key audiences and optimal reach channels. Create concrete launch plans and success metrics for the pre-approval phase.
**Team Building & Execution**: Scale the marketing function from its current two-person team. Hire and develop marketers. Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution of daily marketing tactics.
**Brand & Communications Leadership**: Set company-wide communications strategy across the R&D pipeline. Communicate progress on all drugs in development, promote key publications and partnerships, and position Loyal as a leader in longevity and senior dog care conversations.
**Launch Preparation**: As FDA approval approaches, transition focus to preparing for commercial launch, including veterinary professional education and consumer demand generation.
The ideal candidate is a builder who can set strategy with an executive team while executing tactically. You should have diverse marketing experience across both consumer and professional audiences (healthcare or animal health preferred), a demonstrated track record of successful product launches, and strong brand instincts—particularly the ability to be credible and rigorous with veterinary professionals while remaining warm and accessible to consumers.
**Requirements**:
- Built a marketing function from the ground up
- Marketed to both consumers and professionals (healthcare or animal health experience a plus)
- Taken a product to market; can articulate what you'd do differently next time
- Strong brand taste and opinions, particularly balancing credibility with veterinary professionals and accessibility to consumers
- Comfortable setting strategy with executives and executing tactics
- Hired and developed marketing team members
- Able to operate without established metrics while defining key performance indicators
**Bonus (not required)**:
- Experience marketing in regulated categories
- Built organic awareness without large paid budgets
