ID.me is seeking a Vice President of Communications to lead the company's strategic communications, brand reputation, and executive thought leadership efforts. This role oversees all aspects of corporate, product, and crisis communications across B2B, B2C, and government audiences.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing a holistic communications strategy that positions ID.me as an industry leader in digital identity and authentication. The VP will oversee executive communications including blogs, media interviews, events, and thought leadership content for senior leaders. They will drive strategic content such as published papers and industry insights to reinforce credibility and differentiation, and partner with marketing, sales, and product teams to develop content strategy for owned and earned channels.
The role encompasses media relations and public relations, including oversight of press strategies for product launches, industry recognition, and strategic partnerships. The VP will lead co-branded announcements with customers and partners, and shape relationships with top-tier media, analysts, and influencers to drive positive coverage.
Industry influence and brand positioning are critical, with responsibility for securing speaking opportunities, positioning the company for industry awards, and overseeing corporate participation in key industry events and conferences. The VP will serve as a thought leader and position executives accordingly.
Crisis and reputation management is a core function. The VP will lead both defensive and proactive communication strategies to safeguard the company's reputation, drive crisis response efforts, and serve as the frontline lead during critical situations.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with a proven track record of driving business objectives through both offensive and defensive communications. They should be comfortable navigating complex topics such as identity, privacy, and security, and be equally skilled at shaping high-level strategy and executing tactical details. This is a player-coach role working with internal teams and external agencies.
ID.me is a full-time, in-office culture with offices in McLean, VA; Mountain View, CA; New York City, NY; and Tampa, FL. This role is based in either McLean or Mountain View and requires on-site presence five days per week unless otherwise specified.
