Veeam Kasten is seeking a Director of Solutions Engineering to lead the pre-sales technical organization across EMEA and APJ regions. Reporting to the Worldwide Kasten Solution Sales leader, you will manage a distributed team of senior Solutions Engineers and Architects, setting the standard for technical discovery, solution architecture, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept execution across two geographies.
Your mandate is to elevate team performance: sharper technical execution, deeper regional coverage, and stronger positioning of Kasten (Veeam's Kubernetes-native data protection platform) in the market. You will own the technical win rate across both regions and hold the team accountable to measurable outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role where you remain credible in front of enterprise architects and technical executives.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing the specialist team across EMEA and APJ; partnering with regional sales leadership on territory planning and pipeline development; building Kasten and VDP Proxy technical capability across the wider Veeam field organization through enablement and certification; developing ecosystem relationships with partners like Red Hat, AWS, SUSE, and regional system integrators; and conducting regular business reviews on technical pipeline health. You will travel up to 30% across both regions with occasional global travel.
You bring 8+ years of pre-sales or solutions engineering experience in enterprise software, including 3+ years in a people leadership role. You have a track record of leading pre-sales teams across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones, with demonstrated success on complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals with long sales cycles. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and virtualized environments is essential, along with working knowledge of enterprise data protection and recovery. You can translate complex technical capabilities into business value and present credibly to groups of varying seniority.
Bonus qualifications include background selling to DevOps, Platform Engineering, or IT Operations teams; direct experience with Kubernetes data protection or container platforms like Red Hat OpenShift, AWS EKS, or VMware vSphere; leadership experience in high-growth environments; experience with specialist overlay models; and credibility in the cloud-native community through CNCF involvement, conference speaking, or open-source contribution.
