Brex is seeking an Underwriting Senior Analyst to join its Operations team in Salt Lake City. You'll be responsible for ensuring underwriting processes run smoothly and efficiently for Brex's corporate card products, working with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in-office (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) with up to four weeks annual remote flexibility. In this role, you'll assess credit quality and ability to repay for business credit card customers by reviewing bank and financial statements. You'll handle intermediate-level underwriting escalations requiring deeper investigation into applicant financials and edge-case scenarios. Beyond day-to-day underwriting, you'll proactively identify and recommend process improvements, track key metrics (approval rates, turnaround time, loss rates), and communicate findings to stakeholders. You'll build relationships across Risk, Sales, Engineering, and Product teams to drive underwriting initiatives forward. As a subject matter expert in your underwriting area, you'll execute with high precision while mentoring and up-leveling teammates through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and documentation. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, plus 1+ years of underwriting, credit risk, or financial analysis experience. You should understand GAAP/IFRS accounting standards, bank/financial statement analysis, and quantitative credit risk models (probability of default, loss given default). Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and BI tools (Hex or similar) is essential, along with familiarity with underwriting/credit tooling. Strong analytical rigor, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate technical problems tactfully are critical. Bonus qualifications include familiarity with banking regulations and global markets, plus FinTech, Big 4, accounting, or other financial services experience.
