Blank Street, a fast-growing food and beverage brand, is seeking a Global Tax Manager to build and lead the company's tax function from the ground up. This is the first dedicated tax hire and represents a high-impact, high-ownership role reporting to the Global Controller.
You will own all indirect tax workstreams across Blank Street's existing footprint, including US multi-state and local sales and use tax, and UK VAT. Your responsibilities span all sales channels: in-store, app and subscriptions, and e-commerce. You'll revamp and optimize current tax processes, including taxability mapping, POS and tax engine configuration, automation, and controls.
As the company expands into new regions and territories, you'll lead the tax side of every market entry—from initial research and technical memos through registration, implementation, and ongoing filings and remittances. You'll also support global transfer pricing initiatives, including intercompany arrangements and policy design across US, UK, and EU entities.
Key responsibilities include: managing the global tax calendar across all entities and jurisdictions; overseeing direct tax filings prepared by external accountants; preparing ancillary returns and studies in-house (US R&D tax credits, UK capital allowance studies); monitoring nexus and permanent establishment thresholds; serving as the point of contact for tax audits and authority inquiries; and developing tax policies, procedures, and internal controls.
You'll partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Product, and Digital teams, as well as external tax advisors. Over time, you'll build internal capabilities and systems to transition core tax filings in-house, laying the foundation for Blank Street's tax function as it scales globally.
The role is based in the New York office and requires in-person presence.
