Salary: USD 107,000 - 123,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation company founded in 2021, is seeking a Benefits and Payroll Specialist to lead day-to-day payroll and benefits operations. This is a critical role where administrative accuracy directly impacts employee trust, morale, and peace of mind.
Key responsibilities include: executing flawless, timely multi-state payroll for all exempt and non-exempt employees; serving as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries; managing 401(k) remittance and funding with strict adherence to DOL and ERISA standards; overseeing benefits enrollments and open enrollment experiences; supporting distributed workforce expansion into new states; conducting regular internal audits and leading external compliance audits (401k, Workers' Comp); and maintaining accurate employee data within the HRIS.

Required qualifications: 3+ years of dedicated experience in multi-state payroll and benefits administration within a fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environment; exceptional written and oral communication skills with an approachable, service-oriented mindset; proven track record managing multi-state payroll compliance and registering in new states; direct hands-on experience leading or supporting internal data hygiene checks and external audits; ability to manage sensitive data with discretion and confidentiality; comfort with Google Workspace, Slack, and HRIS/Payroll platforms (Rippling); and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Nice-to-have qualifications include previous experience scaling People Ops processes in a high-growth startup, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related HR/Benefits certification, and curiosity about modern People Tech and AI tools.
