Brex is an intelligent finance platform enabling companies to spend smarter across 200+ markets through corporate cards, banking, spend management, and travel software. The Operations team owns credit, fraud, money movement, and payments—the backbone of Brex's mission. As an Underwriting Senior Analyst, you'll ensure underwriting processes run smoothly and efficiently for Brex's card products. You'll exercise judgment within established frameworks to resolve moderately complex cases involving multiple contributing factors, serving as a subject matter expert in your underwriting area. Key responsibilities include assessing credit quality and repayment ability for business credit card customers; reviewing bank and financial statements; handling intermediate-level escalations requiring deeper investigation into applicant financials and edge cases; proactively identifying and recommending process improvements aligned with organizational goals; tracking and communicating key metrics (approval rates, turnaround time, loss rates) to stakeholders; building relationships with Risk, Sales, Engineering, and Product partners; executing with high precision while mentoring teammates; and contributing to team learning through knowledge sharing and documentation. You'll need a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, plus 1+ years in underwriting, credit risk, financial analysis, or similar. Required skills include understanding of GAAP/IFRS accounting standards and bank/financial statement analysis; familiarity with quantitative credit risk models (probability of default, loss given default); proficiency with Google Sheets, Excel, and BI tools like Hex; deep familiarity with underwriting/credit tooling; strong analytical rigor and attention to detail; customer-centric mindset; cross-functional collaboration experience; and ability to communicate technical problems elegantly. Bonus qualifications include familiarity with banking regulations and global markets, plus FinTech, Big 4, accounting, or other financial services experience. The role is hybrid, based in Vancouver with a minimum of three coordinated days in office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), plus up to four weeks per year of fully remote work.
