Ethos Life is a technology-driven life insurance platform democratizing access to insurance through instant underwriting and seamless digital processes. The Underwriting Quality Auditor role is central to maintaining underwriting excellence and compliance across the platform.
In this position, you will conduct structured audits of underwriting cases to evaluate risk decisions, evidence utilization, and documentation quality against carrier guidelines and standard operating procedures. You'll track and report on key quality metrics including error rates, decision accuracy, and SLA compliance, providing actionable insights to leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Auditing underwriting cases for accuracy and compliance with carrier guidelines
- Tracking quality metrics and generating reports on error rates and SLA performance
- Providing structured feedback and coaching support to underwriters
- Identifying trends in errors and evidence quality, escalating systemic issues
- Collaborating with the training team to identify and address skill gaps
- Contributing to process improvements, SOP enhancements, and automation initiatives
You'll need a graduate or postgraduate degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, or related field (MBBS preferred). A minimum of 5 years in life or health insurance underwriting with exposure to quality management or audit functions is required. Strong knowledge of APS/EHR/Lab Piq interpretation and US-based underwriting guidelines is essential. You should demonstrate high attention to detail, analytical thinking, strong communication skills for feedback and reporting, and proficiency in MS Excel for trend analysis and scorecard development.
