As Senior Manager of Global Payroll, you will own end-to-end payroll operations for a 500+ person organization spanning 30+ US states and 11 countries. This is a hands-on role with no direct reports today—you will run payroll cycles yourself while building the systems, controls, documentation, and team infrastructure for scale. The scaling work is core to the role, not a stretch goal.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own US payroll processing across 30+ states in Rippling, managing bi-weekly pay runs for hourly and salaried employees, off-cycle runs, bonuses, commissions, relocation, fringe benefits, deductions, garnishments, and final pay.
- Coordinate international and EOR payroll delivery through Rippling, Deel, and local providers, ensuring accurate, timely, compliant payments across all jurisdictions.
- Manage payroll tax compliance (federal, state, local): registrations, withholding, unemployment accounts, filings, amendments, and agency notice resolution.
- Own vendor relationships and serve as the subject matter expert for payroll escalations across the business.
- Evaluate additional platforms if Rippling becomes insufficient and make the case for payroll headcount as volume and complexity grow.
- Build payroll infrastructure from scratch—systems, processes, documentation, and team—as the company expands into new states and countries.
You will have autonomy to define payroll strategy and operations. There is no existing playbook; you will write it.
