Jane App is seeking a Senior Manager of Payments Risk to build and lead the risk management function for its embedded payments platform serving thousands of independent healthcare clinics. The role owns the complete risk operating system—people, processes, and technology—that enables Jane to process billions of dollars annually while maintaining trust and exceptional customer experience.
Key responsibilities include: developing and implementing merchant risk policies (onboarding criteria, verification standards, exception handling, ongoing monitoring); defining Jane's risk appetite in partnership with Legal, Finance, and executive leadership; managing portfolio loss reporting and forecasting; designing and optimizing transaction monitoring strategies; improving dispute resolution win rates; making escalation and offboarding decisions with appropriate executive/legal sign-off; ensuring compliance with card network and Stripe obligations; and reimagining the risk stack as an AI-native system with agentic workflows.
The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of payments risk experience, ideally in a leadership or highly cross-functional role at an embedded payments platform carrying liability. Required expertise includes acquiring, underwriting, chargebacks, and transaction monitoring. Hands-on experience with Stripe (especially Connect) or comparable platforms is essential. You should be comfortable writing policies that people follow, explaining complex decisions to clinic owners with empathy, and building your own data reporting using SQL or Stripe Sigma. The role requires comfort operating as the sole person in this function initially while building the team.
Jane is a founder-led, high-growth SaaS company with 70,000+ businesses using the platform and 250,000+ practitioners interacting daily. The company operates remote-first across Canada, the US, and the UK, with a mission to help independent healthcare providers succeed. This is a fully remote role with no hybrid requirement.
