Canva is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to join its rapidly scaling finance team in Sydney. This hybrid role reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting Lead and focuses on strengthening month-end close capabilities while building and developing a high-performing local accounting team.
Key responsibilities include leading, coaching, and developing corporate accountants with performance management and career development focus; partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (FP&A, business leaders, tax team) to resolve close issues and ensure accounting accuracy; managing integration of accounting processes and systems for acquired entities; completing month-end close activities including journals, reconciliations, and flux analysis; maintaining effective internal controls and documentation; identifying process improvements to strengthen close efficiency; and supporting broader accounting projects and system enhancements.
The role covers areas such as cash management, intercompany transactions, lease accounting, accruals, and acquisition integrations. You'll serve as both reviewer and preparer depending on complexity, and represent the corporate accounting team during Australian business hours.
Ideal candidates bring proven experience managing and developing high-performing accounting teams with strong coaching and mentorship skills. You should demonstrate ability to partner effectively with stakeholders, thrive in fast-paced dynamic environments, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Technical expertise in establishing SOX-compliant policies, processes, and controls is essential. Proficiency with NetSuite or other enterprise ERP systems is required. Nice-to-haves include experience with Floqast, AI tools, and working on global accounting teams.
