As an Underwriter, you will evaluate and underwrite small business loan applications in accordance with BlueVine's credit policies, procedures, and risk appetite. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Underwriting small business loan applications within established credit policies and risk guidelines
- Analyzing financial statements, bank statements, tax returns, application data, and credit reports
- Evaluating applicant creditworthiness and identifying potential risks
- Structuring loans within established guidelines while balancing risk, customer needs, growth, and profitability
- Making well-supported credit decisions with clear documentation of underwriting rationale
- Supporting additional projects as assigned
You should have 2+ years of underwriting experience, ideally in fintech, banking, or financial institutions, with small business lending experience preferred. Strong knowledge of credit fundamentals in commercial lending is essential. A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field is preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
