Wiz is a rapidly growing cloud security platform (recently acquired by Google) that helps organizations secure cloud and AI applications. The company scans and secures over 230 billion files daily for customers including 65% of the Fortune 100. As a Threat Detection Researcher, you will join the Threat Research team to develop and advance cloud-native threat detection capabilities. You'll own the full lifecycle of security detections—from initial threat research and data analysis through building and deploying detection logic into production. Key responsibilities include: - Designing behavioral baselines for complex cloud environments using diverse signals and developing high-fidelity detections - Expanding Wiz's detection engine with novel telemetry sources to detect threats in modern cloud environments - Conducting deep technical research into cloud services to uncover novel attack vectors - Investigating real-world attacks across cloud environments, identity providers, and IaaS platforms - Hunting and analyzing emerging threats and active campaigns targeting the cloud ecosystem You'll bring 6+ years of hands-on security or threat research experience with a proven track record of driving investigations to real-world impact. You're self-motivated, able to independently drive complex research projects, and communicate clearly across teams. You're proficient in Python, Go, and query languages (KQL, SQL), with strong data analysis skills. Advantages include familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, incident response, red teaming, threat hunting, experience shipping security detections as part of a product, technical writing/speaking, and leveraging AI/LLM tools for detection and analysis.
