Saronic Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, comprehensive documentation for autonomous surface vessels used in maritime defense operations. You will collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into accessible documentation for end-users, including service manuals, work instructions, and support materials.
Key responsibilities include gathering technical specifications from engineering teams, creating and maintaining maintenance documentation, developing scalable writing processes and strategies, and ensuring all documentation adheres to industry standards and DoD regulations. You will review and edit documentation for accuracy and consistency, plan and coordinate documentation projects across teams to meet deadlines, and continuously improve existing materials based on user and stakeholder feedback.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in English, Engineering, or a related field, with prior technical writing experience, ideally in technology-driven or defense industry environments. You should have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to communicate complex hardware and software information clearly. Technical proficiency is valued: experience with version control systems, front-end development, docs-as-code methodologies, markdown, JavaScript, CSS, and Nunjucks templating are pluses. Familiarity with DoD standards and regulations for technical documentation is highly desirable. You must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a self-motivated, proactive approach are essential. Willingness to travel is a plus.
