Salary: USD 97,000 - 129,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create and maintain user documentation across its defense technology product lines. The role is part of the Mission Success team, a cross-functional group supporting all Anduril products with a focus on product operations, training, adoption, and user documentation.
You will partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver accurate, updated, and easy-to-understand documentation on how to use Anduril's autonomous systems and AI-powered platforms. Your mission is to organize engineering and program delivery functions around documentation excellence, working closely with engineers, operations, and subject matter experts to understand products, identify user workflows, and close knowledge gaps through high-quality written artifacts.
Key responsibilities include generating, reviewing, and editing user-focused documentation (technical manuals, operational manuals, maintenance manuals, procedures, checklists, user guides, troubleshooting guides, and release notes). You will identify relevant stakeholders, lead them through a documentation roadmap with established milestones, engage subject matter experts at the right time, and guide teams toward finished user-facing documents that meet customer needs. You will also work with account teams to ensure contract deliverables are accurate, on-time, and properly formatted.
Given Anduril's focus on defense and national security, documentation plays a critical role in ensuring front-line operators can effectively leverage military systems. You will set the bar for tone, voice, and quality across written artifacts company-wide. The role includes exposure to government programs requiring documentation in standards such as MIL-STD-40051D and S1000D, delivered via IADs.
Required: 4+ years generating technical documentation, experience writing user-facing technical content, ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, experience building content in multiple formats (Word, XML, etc.), eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, and ability to relocate to Ashville, OH for onsite work.
Preferred: Military exposure and experience with military technical documentation standards, strong written and verbal communication skills, passion for documentation and user experience, previous aerospace and defense documentation experience, and experience on fast-paced complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
