Path Robotics is seeking a Technical Writer to own the creation, revision, and control of production documentation that keeps their AI-driven robotics systems running smoothly. This is an on-the-floor role combining technical writing, process documentation, and document control management.
You will create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, standards, and process flows from draft through release. You'll spend significant time on the production floor observing builds, interviewing operators, technicians, and engineers to capture processes as they're actually performed. Your core responsibility is translating complex technical processes into clear, visual, operator-ready documents using photos, diagrams, and flowcharts.
Key responsibilities include owning the document control process (numbering, formatting, revision history, approval routing, and periodic reviews), building and maintaining standard templates and style guides for consistency across teams, driving engineering changes into affected documents quickly, and partnering with Build Ops leadership, quality, and safety to prioritize documentation backlogs and close gaps flagged in audits or training.
You'll support onboarding by ensuring new hires have accurate work instructions, track documentation metrics (coverage, revision aging, review compliance), and report status to stakeholders. This role requires someone equally comfortable as an editor, process detective, and librarian—able to extract tribal knowledge from experts and standardize it while keeping documentation current as systems evolve.
Required: 5+ years of technical writing in manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, or similar hands-on environments. Proven experience authoring SOPs and managing them under formal document control systems. Strong interviewing skills to extract knowledge from subject matter experts. Visual communication skills (Visio, Lucidchart, or similar). Meticulous attention to accuracy and version control. Comfort working on production floors around robots, welding, and heavy equipment. Self-directed with ability to manage backlogs and set priorities independently.
Preferred: Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems, lean/continuous improvement, or MES/PLM/QMS tools. Experience in robotics, welding, or capital equipment manufacturing.
