Braze is seeking a Technical Writer to join its Tech Writing team. At Braze, documentation is treated as infrastructure—a connected, structured body of knowledge that both developers and machines read from, not a collection of individual pages. You will spend significant time shaping how knowledge is organized and generated alongside traditional technical writing. The documentation practice at Braze is already well established, with a mature style guide, writers who own specific product domains, and a workflow where AI-assisted drafting sits alongside traditional technical writing. Your role is to push it forward on two fronts: architectural (defining metadata, taxonomy, and context that tooling relies on to produce useful first drafts) and editorial (becoming a genuine expert on Braze's platform and bringing scrutiny that turns plausible drafts into documentation customers can trust—accurate, well-structured, and consistent in voice). Key responsibilities include: - Define and maintain metadata (YAML front matter), taxonomy, and contextual guidelines that AI-assisted drafting workflows depend on - Review and verify machine-generated prose and code samples line by line, checking technical accuracy, edge-case behavior, and voice before publication - Write and revise API references, integration guides, and conceptual documentation in a docs-as-code environment, owning feature updates end to end - Become an expert on the Braze platform, distilling complex functionality into approachable, user-centric language - Help oversee and maintain the documentation GitHub repository - Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Support, Customer Success, Marketing, and Implementation teams to validate how the platform actually behaves and to verify real customer integration paths - Organize content to serve both developers mid-integration and systems retrieving context - Ensure documentation applies voice, style, and branding consistent with other client experiences - Continuously improve the documentation and client education experience through feedback-gathering, research, experimentation, and data-driven decisions - Promote and foster knowledge exchange across teams Braze is the leading customer engagement platform that empowers brands to deliver great customer experiences. Built on composable intelligence, BrazeAI allows marketers to combine and activate AI agents, models, and features at every touchpoint. The company is headquartered in New York with offices globally including Chicago, Austin, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years writing documentation for genuinely technical audiences (APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms) with writing samples demonstrating both range and precision - Fluent in information architecture and knowledge management - Rigorous editor with a sharp instinct for drafts that read well but contain subtle inaccuracies - Comfortable with Git, Markdown, YAML, and docs-as-code workflows - Active, practical user of LLMs and AI tooling in your own work—you understand where they help and where they don't - Ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical readers, knowing which audience you're writing for - Curious by default: you want to understand why something works before documenting it and will speak up when a plan doesn't hold up - Steady across many stakeholders and comfortable when priorities shift - Excellent interpersonal skills, user-centric team-player attitude, and confidence presenting your work and reasoning - Relentless advocate for user experience
