Braze is seeking a Technical Writer to join its Tech Writing team. You will work on documentation as infrastructure—a connected, structured body of knowledge that both developers and machines read from, not isolated pages. The role balances two key responsibilities: architectural work (defining metadata, taxonomy, and contextual guidelines for AI-assisted drafting workflows) and editorial work (reviewing machine-generated content and writing original documentation with deep technical scrutiny).
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and maintain metadata (YAML front matter), taxonomy, and contextual guidelines that AI-assisted drafting workflows depend on
- Review and verify machine-generated prose and code samples line by line for technical accuracy, edge-case behavior, and voice consistency
- Write and revise API references, integration guides, and conceptual documentation in a docs-as-code environment, owning feature updates end to end
- Become an expert on the Braze platform, distilling complex functionality into approachable, user-centric language
- Oversee and maintain the documentation GitHub repository
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Support, Customer Success, Marketing, and Implementation teams to validate platform behavior and real customer integration paths
- Organize content to serve both developers mid-integration and systems retrieving context
- Ensure documentation maintains consistent voice, style, and branding across all client experiences
- Gather feedback, conduct research, and make data-driven improvements to documentation and client education
- Foster knowledge exchange across teams
Braze is a leading customer engagement platform recognized as a Leader in marketing technology. The company has offices globally and was named a 2025 Best Companies To Work For by U.S. News and World Report and a Fortune Best Workplace in Technology by Great Place To Work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years writing documentation for genuinely technical audiences (APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms) with writing samples demonstrating both range and precision
- Fluent in information architecture and knowledge management
- Rigorous editor with sharp instinct for identifying drafts that read well but contain subtle inaccuracies
- Comfortable with Git, Markdown, YAML, and docs-as-code workflows
- Active, practical user of LLMs and AI tooling in your own work; understanding of where they help and where they don't
- Ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical readers, knowing which audience you're writing for
- Curious by default; want to understand why something works before documenting it; willing to challenge plans that don't hold up
- Steady across many stakeholders and comfortable when priorities shift
- Excellent interpersonal skills, user-centric team-player attitude, and confidence presenting work and reasoning
- Relentless advocate for user experience
