Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join the Mission Success team in Costa Mesa, California. This role is central to creating and maintaining user documentation across Anduril's diverse product lines, which include advanced autonomy, AI, computer vision, and sensor fusion technologies powering Lattice OS—an AI-powered operating system for military command and control. You will partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver accurate, clear, and user-focused documentation for complex hardware and software systems. Your responsibilities include generating technical manuals, operational guides, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and release notes. You will identify stakeholders, establish documentation roadmaps with key milestones, engage subject matter experts, and guide them toward finished user-facing documents that meet customer needs. You will also coordinate with account teams to ensure contract deliverables are accurate, on-time, and properly formatted. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting government programs that require documentation in military standards such as MIL-STD-40051D and S1000D, delivered via IETMs/IETDs. You will help set the bar for tone, voice, and quality across all written artifacts at Anduril, ensuring that front-line operators can seamlessly learn to operate complex systems. Required qualifications include 4+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation for complex hardware, software, or aerospace systems; experience writing user-facing technical documentation; ability to read and interpret engineering documentation (schematics, CAD, software specs); proficiency building content in multiple formats (Word, XML, DITA); strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on explaining technical subjects simply; eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; and ability to relocate to Costa Mesa if not already local. Preferred qualifications include military exposure and experience with military technical documentation standards, guidelines, and verbiage.
