Telnyx is a profitable, industry-leading connectivity platform operating a global infrastructure spanning communications, AI inference, GPUs, edge compute, databases and real-time applications. The company has invested heavily in underlying infrastructure and now seeks to dramatically improve how developers discover, build on, and grow with the platform.
You will lead a small team of six engineers across Developer Relations and Product-Led Growth, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The team comprises three DevRel engineers (sample apps, open source, technical content, demos) and three PLG engineers (activation, AI agents, automation, self-service conversion and expansion). This is explicitly a hands-on product role for a strong engineer with excellent product judgment—not a traditional people-management position.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build production-quality sample applications, integrations, templates and reference implementations on Telnyx. Publish on GitHub, maintain them, and make them easy for developers to deploy and extend. Transform these into compelling technical content, live demos and developer distribution channels.
• Own the PLG operation moving developers from signup to meaningful usage and revenue. Use product telemetry, behavioral signals, AI agents and human intervention to identify friction, accelerate onboarding, improve conversion and expand self-service usage.
• Get hands-on with APIs, SDKs, documentation and infrastructure. Work directly with product engineering to identify and resolve usability issues. Reference applications should continuously validate that products are genuinely ready for developers.
• Develop automated workflows for developer acquisition, onboarding, account intelligence, technical assistance and expansion using AI-native growth systems. Partner with Growth Engineering and RevOps to build small, highly technical teams supervised by powerful automation that outperform larger traditional GTM organizations.
• Connect the entire developer journey: applications attract developers, developers experiment, PLG helps them succeed, production usage generates revenue, and feedback improves products. You own making this system work end-to-end.
Success is measured by growing developer-led revenue on Telnyx, tracked through activated developers, production applications deployed, self-service conversion, usage expansion, retention, adoption of reference applications, developer content effectiveness, and speed from signup to working application. The role prioritizes real applications developers use, developers reaching production, and revenue over vanity metrics.
The ideal candidate is a builder who would rather ship a working prototype than debate roadmaps, notices broken onboarding and immediately fixes it, and understands both technical excellence and what makes developers want to use infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong software engineering background; comfortable building and debugging real applications, working with APIs, reading code, understanding complex infrastructure
• Experience as Technical Product Manager, founding engineer, technical founder or similar role with substantial personal responsibility for shipping software
• Exceptional product judgment around developer tools, APIs, documentation, onboarding and usability
• Familiarity with AI infrastructure, LLMs, inference, cloud platforms, real-time systems or developer infrastructure
• Understanding of product-led growth including developer acquisition, activation, conversion, retention and monetization
• Ability to work with AI coding agents, automation frameworks, product analytics and modern developer tooling
• Strong technical communication skills; ability to explain complex technologies clearly and recognize what makes useful demonstrations or reference applications
• Comfortable leading a small technical team while remaining deeply involved in actual work
• Experience at developer infrastructure company valuable; experience personally building and growing something developers love is more important
