This is a Technical Lead Manager role—a stepping stone between senior individual contributor and full Engineering Manager. You'll transition from informal technical leadership into a formal management position with your own team.
In your current role, you likely already perform many of these responsibilities: you review designs before implementation, catch issues in code reviews, respond to production incidents, and mentor junior engineers on their career development—all without the formal title or authority.
