GoodData.AI is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to join the Stellar team, which owns developer velocity and platform stability for an AI-native analytics platform. The role involves developing Kotlin-based Spring/Ktor services for a containerized, distributed platform; designing and maintaining GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows; contributing to internal and public API design; and participating in security-conscious engineering work including vulnerability remediation and auth flow hardening.
You will work on a modern tech stack built for reliability and scalability: Kotlin with Spring-Boot/Ktor frameworks, Python, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, Pulsar for async messaging, gRPC/REST for sync communication, and Kubernetes deployment with Terraform and Helm provisioning. The team values learning, ownership, teamwork, and transparency, collaborating to design solutions incrementally.
Key responsibilities include developing high-quality, well-tested code; taking on challenges of building highly scalable distributed applications; influencing technical solutions and best practices; contributing to internal AI-assisted developer tooling (on-duty automation, AI coding agents); and holding operational duty during business hours.
Required qualifications: strong experience with Kotlin/Java, Spring, and Java frameworks; familiarity with software design patterns and enterprise application architecture; working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases; passion for clean code and agile development; proficiency in written and spoken English; and experience with AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow.
Nice-to-have skills include Kotlin Coroutines, Gradle, GitHub Actions, advanced Python, AWS/cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), Kubernetes, observability tools (Prometheus, distributed tracing), agentic AI frameworks, and a CS/Engineering degree.
The role offers flexibility: remote, hybrid, or fully onsite from Brno or Prague offices.
