ARX Robotics is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead simulation and synthetic data generation for autonomous ground vehicles. You will be at the core of the autonomy stack, creating high-fidelity virtual environments that enable robotic systems to learn and operate in demanding off-road conditions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build realistic simulation environments for autonomous off-road vehicles using tools like Unity
- Generate high-fidelity synthetic sensor data (cameras, LiDAR) to train perception algorithms at scale
- Develop complex virtual scenarios including dense forests, rugged terrain, and adverse weather conditions
- Create data augmentation and domain randomization pipelines to ensure model robustness
- Implement and refine Sim2Real strategies to bridge virtual testing and real-world performance
- Integrate simulation modules with ROS/ROS2-based robotics software stacks
- Collaborate with AI and robotics teams to enhance synthetic data quality and accelerate model development
Required expertise:
- Strong proficiency in Python or C++ with hands-on ROS2 experience
- Proven track record developing simulation environments with solid computer graphics foundation
- Deep familiarity with camera and LiDAR sensors and synthetic data generation
- Strong understanding of Sim2Real methodologies and transfer learning challenges
- Collaborative, proactive approach to solving complex technical problems
- Bonus: experience with TensorFlow or sensor fusion techniques
