Blockchain.com is seeking a Technical Lead for Lending & Savings to lead the engineering direction of two core consumer products: crypto savings and crypto-backed lending. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining individual contribution with team management.
You will define the technical architecture for the Lending & Savings platform, design and build scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems, and make key architectural decisions balancing scalability, performance, security, and maintainability. You'll remain close to the code, contributing production-quality code and reviewing critical changes while driving engineering best practices across system design, testing, deployment, observability, and operational excellence.
You'll lead and mentor a small team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence. You'll own the delivery of technical initiatives from design through production, working closely with the Business Lead and designers to translate product requirements into technical solutions. You'll break down complex initiatives into clear engineering milestones, identify technical risks early, and ensure services remain resilient, performant, and secure as the platform scales.
Key responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams (Product Design, Treasury, Trading, Risk, Compliance, Infrastructure) to build customer-focused solutions, continuously improving engineering productivity through automation and modern development practices, and championing adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools where they improve developer efficiency.
Required technical experience: strong backend systems development using Kotlin or Java; designing distributed, event-driven systems with Kafka or similar messaging; PostgreSQL and relational database design; Redis or NoSQL technologies; microservices architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications; monitoring, observability, incident response, and production operations; debugging and performance optimization; demonstrated experience shipping reliable production systems handling financial transactions.
Required leadership experience: leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on; strong system design and architectural decision-making; owning technical delivery from planning through production; comfortable translating product requirements into engineering solutions with cross-functional stakeholders.
