FlixTrain is seeking a Technical Expert for Onboard Connectivity to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of the company's on-board technology ecosystem. This role owns the full technical stack for passenger connectivity—including WLAN, network infrastructure, on-board units, and mobile devices for train staff—and drives continuous improvement in how passengers experience connectivity during their journeys.
Key responsibilities include:
• Owning the complete on-board technology ecosystem, from WLAN and network architecture to on-board hardware units and staff mobile devices, with accountability for performance and reliability.
• Serving as the central technical authority for all on-board systems, evaluating specifications, assessing trade-offs, and making well-reasoned technical decisions that balance ambition with feasibility.
• Continuously monitoring on-board technology performance, identifying issues early, and driving improvements that enhance the passenger experience and operational efficiency.
• Leading cross-functional projects around connectivity, network performance, and mobile device integration into the fleet, with clear focus on business impact.
• Defining technical specifications and network architectures that are both ambitious and implementable, ensuring seamless integration with the vehicle fleet.
• Developing test scenarios and functional validations—particularly at critical customer and certification touchpoints—to ensure solutions work reliably in real-world operations.
• Monitoring emerging technologies (5G, IoT, Starlink) and translating insights into concrete recommendations for FlixTrain's technology roadmap.
You will work closely with Operations, Customer Product, FlixTech, and external partners including Talgo, ECMs, and suppliers (Icomera, Advantech). This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly shape FlixTrain's competitive advantage in on-board connectivity and passenger experience.
