Join Datadog's Technical Escalation Engineering (TEE) team as a Technical Escalations Engineer 2 focused on Database Monitoring. You'll operate at the intersection of Technical Solutions, Engineering, Product, and customer success, tackling the most challenging technical problems in observability and database monitoring.
Key responsibilities include:
- Investigate complex escalations and lead high-stakes technical calls for critical customer challenges
- Develop deep technical expertise in Datadog's Database Monitoring product, becoming the go-to expert for DBM
- Mentor the Global Support Engineering team through office hours, learning sessions, and knowledge sharing
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to identify gaps, drive improvements, and advocate for customer needs
- Act as technical stakeholder for database Agent integrations (Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server), proposing improvements to code, telemetry, and documentation
- Develop internal runbooks, public-facing solutions, and debugging frameworks to scale knowledge and increase team autonomy
- Shape readiness plans for upcoming DBM product releases, ensuring Solutions teams worldwide are prepared

Required expertise:
- Power user of the Datadog Agent and its integrations with experience debugging advanced configuration and performance issues
- Ability to dive into Agent and Integration codebases (primarily Python), interpret logic paths, and assess behavior in edge-case environments
- Confident recreating diverse customer environments across cloud-hosted (RDS, Azure, CloudSQL) and self-hosted databases
- Experience across different deployment contexts (Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Obsessed with root cause analysis and systems thinking
- Strong collaborator who enjoys teaching and scaling knowledge
Bonus qualifications include Computer Science or Engineering background, experience with Zendesk/Jira/Confluence, and familiarity with Datadog or similar observability platforms.
