Salary: USD 180,000 - 220,000 / annual
Decagon is a conversational AI platform enabling enterprises to deploy AI agents for customer support and operations. The Accounting team owns financial reporting and controls at this rapidly scaling startup. As Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager, you will be a high-impact individual contributor responsible for complex, non-routine accounting matters as the company scales toward IPO readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP for complex transactions, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations (ASC 805), and stock-based compensation (ASC 718), with audit-ready documentation
- Reviewing non-standard customer contracts with Legal, Sales, and Revenue Operations to ensure correct revenue treatment before new products and pricing launch
- Managing equity and stock-based compensation accounting, including 409A valuations, M&A, and financing activities
- Building Decagon's technical accounting policies and infrastructure from the ground up
- Driving conclusions with external auditors and technical consultants to raise reporting rigor as the company approaches IPO
- Tracking new accounting standards and communicating implications to leadership
You will partner closely with Legal, Sales, Founders Office, Revenue Operations, and Finance to guide deal structure and pricing strategy before market launch.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred); 7+ years progressive accounting experience combining Big 4/public accounting and high-growth technology/SaaS industry roles; deep hands-on expertise in ASC 606, 805, and 718 with demonstrated experience drafting complex transaction memos; excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate technical conclusions for non-finance stakeholders; self-starter comfortable owning ambiguous, high-stakes problems independently in fast-paced environments.
Preferred: Experience with ASC 842 (lease accounting), ASC 350-40 (capitalized software), or ASC 480 (debt/equity instruments); familiarity with ERP and financial reporting tools; experience using AI and automation tools for technical accounting research and audit support.
