This is a player-coach Team Lead role in the Software Engineering organization. You will lead a team of 3–5 engineers while remaining hands-on, splitting your time roughly evenly between individual contribution and team leadership. The role combines technical depth with people management, requiring you to mentor engineers, drive team delivery, and partner with product and design to ship features that move the business forward.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of 3–5 engineers, owning their growth, performance, career development, and day-to-day delivery
- Contributing approximately 50% of your time to hands-on code, architecture, and technical design across the full stack
- Translating business priorities into clear roadmaps and well-scoped engineering work in partnership with Product, Design, and Data
- Driving execution and delivery, removing blockers, managing trade-offs, and keeping work aligned with business goals
- Coaching engineers through code review, pair programming, system design discussions, and regular 1:1s
- Collaborating with Staff Engineers and other leads on cross-team architecture and technical standards
- Hiring, onboarding, and retaining great engineers as the team scales
The technology stack includes TypeScript (front and back), ReactJS with functional components, ExpressJS, PostgreSQL with Sequelize ORM, Docker, Terraform, AWS ECS, RabbitMQ, and Apache Kafka. You'll work in a microservices architecture and operate in an Agile environment using tools like Jira or GitHub Projects.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; 7+ years of industry software engineering experience with 1–2 years leading or managing engineers; strong proficiency in modern languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, Ruby) and frameworks (React, Vue, Express); solid cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture; strong PostgreSQL and database skills; proven track record shipping complex projects end-to-end; experience coaching and developing engineers; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
