Lovable is a software creation platform that has grown to over 60 million projects since launch in November 2024. Recognized as one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies and featured on Forbes AI 50 and CNBC Disruptor 50, the company is one of Europe's fastest-growing AI companies with teams across Stockholm (headquarters), London, Boston, New York, and San Francisco.
You will join Lovable's tax team as a Tax Specialist, working alongside the Head of Tax and Senior Tax Specialist. This is an operational tax role focused on compliance and controls for a rapidly expanding, multi-entity global company. Tax and accounting are tightly integrated in this position, requiring understanding of both disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running operational tax controls: systematic VAT ID validation on customers and vendors, withholding tax on outbound payments including W-forms, US sales tax exemption certificates and related forms, and reviewing customer and supplier invoices for correct tax treatment and deductibility
- Tracking tax registrations and filing status across jurisdictions, including US states and foreign VAT
- Supporting tax accounting: provisions, reconciliations between tax and accounting, tax notes, and month-end/year-end deliverables
- Supporting recurring filings with external advisors for corporate income tax, VAT, and US federal, state, and sales tax
- Serving as first point of contact for the accounting team on tax questions and supporting audits and ad hoc requests
- Systematizing and automating recurring processes using AI and automation tools to reduce manual work
The role emphasizes turning tax legal and accounting rules into repeatable processes, checklists, and automations so consistent treatment is applied without manual recall each time. You'll work in a small, talent-dense team with a culture rooted in extreme ownership, high velocity, and low-ego collaboration.
Requirements:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in tax, accounting, or audit
- Strong understanding of both tax and accounting and how they connect: VAT on purchases and sales, withholding tax, intercompany invoicing, provisions, and differences between tax and accounting treatment
- Self-starter mindset with curiosity and precision; you ask why, look things up, and don't wait to be told
- Attention to detail and stamina for follow-up with accounting, advisors, and the business
- AI-first way of working; you reach for AI and automation by default and prefer repeatable processes over manual ones
- Comfort working in a small team where things are not fully defined yet
- Excellent English (company language)
- Based in Stockholm or willing to relocate
