Salary: USD 125,000 - 150,000 / annual
Forter, a fraud prevention and identity intelligence platform serving major brands like Nordstrom, Instacart, and eBay, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team in New York. This hybrid role (with mandatory Wednesday office attendance) involves managing general accounting operations and supporting month-end and quarterly financial close processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing monthly payroll journal entries for U.S. and international entities, including salaries, taxes, and deductions
- Managing and reconciling payroll-related accounts (accrued vacation, bonus, severance) in the general ledger
- Full ownership of ASC 606 commission accounting, including capitalization, amortization, and impairment analysis of sales commissions
- Preparing, reviewing, and recording accounting entries for internally developed software costs per U.S. GAAP
- Collaborating with external auditors during annual audits, providing documentation and support
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and identifying process efficiencies through AI and technology
- Handling special projects and ad-hoc requests

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA is a plus)
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in technology or SaaS with both private and public company experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Proficiency with HRIS, commission, and accounting software (NetSuite, CIQ, ADP) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Willingness to embrace AI to support daily tasks; prior AI experience is a plus
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong work ethic, proactive attitude, and high integrity
