Vitable Health is building a health benefits platform designed to make quality healthcare accessible to the 85+ million uninsured and underinsured Americans. The company helps employers offer real, high-quality healthcare coverage to their teams. As Director of Finance, you will own Vitable's financial model, board narrative, and operating rhythm. You'll report to the Chief of Staff, manage a Controller and Financial Analyst, and work directly with the CEO and leadership team. This is a player-coach role combining strategic priority-setting with hands-on execution at a critical stage for the company. Key responsibilities include: - Building and owning the company financial model, including partnership economics and unit economics, with strategic judgment on assumptions to inform pricing and growth decisions - Preparing board slides, board data packs, and investor updates; leading the transition to a consolidated board reporting model using Coefficient - Preparing financial materials for Series B fundraising, managing diligence requests, and overseeing company equity and cap table management - Owning monthly gross margin analysis, including TPA fee corrections, and partnering with accounting advisors on revenue recognition, ARR, and gross margin treatment - Managing cash across operating accounts, setting transfer cadence, anticipating funding needs, and ensuring payroll coverage before twice-monthly runs - Overseeing the relationship with Graphite (outsourced accounting partner) and reviewing closed books - Managing and developing a Controller and Financial Analyst, setting priorities, and running biweekly Finance Calls The company is seeking candidates from two paths: (A) those who have led finance at a similar-sized company, owned the model and day-to-day function, and worked through imperfect systems; or (B) those from investment banking or transaction-focused roles who build rigorous models and want to move from advising to operating. Requirements: - Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to explain and defend assumptions - Fundraising or transaction exposure, including diligence and investor requests (you don't need to have led a raise) - Ability to translate financial analysis into clear narratives for executives, board members, and investors - Accounting fluency to review closed books, ask sharp questions, and identify issues (CPA not required) - Careful planning and follow-through, especially with cash movements and deadlines - Clear communication, sound judgment under pressure, and discretion with sensitive information - Genuine interest in Vitable's mission of making healthcare accessible Valuable but not required: treasury experience, multi-entity accounting, outsourced accounting partner management, healthcare or employee benefits background, recurring revenue metrics expertise, people management experience, or familiarity with QuickBooks, Ramp, Mercury, Slash, or Coefficient. Role is remote with core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern time.
