Salary: USD 149,000 - 200,000 / annual
Skydio is seeking a Systems Integration and Test Engineer to own the definition, integration, verification, and failure analysis of autonomous flying robots. You will work across hardware, sensing, and real-time AI software to ensure product reliability for applications spanning infrastructure inspection, public safety, and defense.
Key responsibilities include defining comprehensive system requirements in partnership with product managers and developers; guaranteeing overall system performance through architecture definition and design reviews; defining cross-functional system behaviors and telemetry for field diagnostics; performing bring-up and performance verification during new product introduction; acting as first responder for early system failures with rapid root-cause analysis; analyzing flight telemetry and field data to inform risk assessments and maintenance protocols; and implementing processes and tools for efficient product development and testing.
You will need 3+ years of hands-on experience in definition, design, analysis, testing, and delivery of highly reliable electro-mechanical systems in rapid development environments. A systems-engineering approach to problem-solving is essential, with ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Experience in test design and execution for system bring-up, mechatronic prototyping, and fixture development is required. Knowledge of design for reliability principles, physics of failure, and integration risks of critical electronics (PCBAs, motors, batteries, cameras, compute modules, sensors) is important.
Proficiency in Python and/or SQL for dataset analysis, specification definition, risk assessments, and reliability data analysis is needed. You should be passionate about communicating hardware and systems reliability nuances to cross-functional teams and have a keen eye for identifying and prioritizing risks. FAA Part 107 certification is strongly encouraged within the first 60 days and required for certain positions.
