Arago is re-engineering computing from first principles by fusing optical and CMOS technologies to build next-generation AI accelerators. The company is backed by leading deep-tech investors and industry luminaries including the CEO of Arm, the founder of macOS, an Nvidia Fellow, and Google's Head of Optics.
As Software Team Lead, you will coordinate the software team across the full stack, driving performance optimization and deploying pilot and prototype stacks to expand the developer base. You'll build and mentor a growing engineering team while remaining hands-on with code, architecture, and performance optimization. Close collaboration with chip architects and hardware teams during early silicon bring-up is central to the role.
Key responsibilities include owning and driving the software stack for AI accelerator products, balancing execution speed with long-term technical foundations. You'll work on hardware–software co-design, lead development across kernel libraries, runtimes, drivers, firmware, and developer tooling, and optimize AI workloads for performance, efficiency, and reliability on emerging hardware. You'll partner directly with clients to translate technical requirements into clear team deliverables and manage scope, priorities, and timelines.
Required qualifications include strong background in systems software for AI/ML accelerators, GPUs, or high-performance compute platforms; solid understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, and parallel computing; proven ability to lead small engineering teams while contributing significantly as an individual contributor; strong C/C++ programming skills; and proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, ONNX, TensorRT). Experience with testing and deployment infrastructure for large-scale projects and strong communication skills are essential.
Desirable experience includes low-level software such as compilers, drivers, and firmware; profiling and optimizing AI workloads; experience with AI inference platforms like vLLM and SGLang; and strong mathematical background.
The company operates with three core values: do great things, move with high velocity, and operate as one unit. This is a demanding environment where constant learning, ownership, and execution are expected.
