You will join as a Supplier Industrialization Engineer (SIE) focused on scaling printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) suppliers to meet aggressive production ramps for Redwood's novel energy generation product. This is a fully on-site role at the San Francisco R&D space with 30% international travel to supplier and contract manufacturer sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product) and risk assessments to qualify new sources and ensure mass-production readiness
- Partner with Global Supply Managers, Design Engineering, and suppliers to align specifications, tolerance stack-ups, test coverage, and process controls
- Review dimensional and quality reports, first article inspections (FAI), and process control data to verify part compliance
- Execute PPAP/FAI activities and define incoming inspection criteria based on part criticality, GD&T, and critical-to-quality characteristics
- Support supplier non-conformance resolution, drive 8D investigations, and verify effectiveness with vendors
- Maintain supplier scorecards tracking yield, PPM, delivery performance, and DFM responsiveness
- Support NPI builds and DFM/DFA feedback loops through early supplier engagement and pilot line walkthroughs
- Build and define a capable network of vendor partners with robust process, technical capability, reliability, and capacity
- Support make-vs-buy, dual sourcing, and localization efforts across global supply chains
- Contribute to sourcing decisions, lead-time analysis, and manufacturing footprint strategies
You are a doer excited about hands-on work in dynamic, fast-paced settings with new technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional partners in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing to ensure design and customer success targets are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or equivalent technical background
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Supply Chain, or MBA (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, industrial engineering, process controls, or related fields, ideally in automotive, industrial hardware, or high-volume electronics manufacturing
- Strong understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, through-hole wave and selective soldering, reflow oven profiles, test strategies)
- Strong proficiency in statistics, reading schematics, component drawings, and developing manufacturing processes for high-volume capacity and quality targets
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, DFMEA/PFMEA, ISO, and AECQ quality systems
- Highly collaborative, data-driven, and proactive; capable of thriving in fast-paced startup environments
- Willingness to travel internationally to supplier and CM sites (30%)
