You'll join the GTM Finance team as a Strategic Finance professional, sitting at the center of critical business decisions. This role is highly strategic because Baseten's business is usage-based—growth, pricing, margin, and capacity decisions are fundamentally financial decisions that shape the company's trajectory.
Key responsibilities include owning financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting for the GTM organization; building and maintaining financial models across revenue, S&M spend, headcount, and strategic initiatives; analyzing usage-based business metrics (ARR, gross margin, consumption trends, retention, GTM efficiency); partnering with GTM leaders to set targets, evaluate growth initiatives, shape pricing, and design sales compensation; preparing board materials and investor updates; improving financial reporting and dashboards; and translating ambiguous business questions into actionable insights.
You'll report into a finance team with genuine influence over company strategy and work directly with GTM leadership. The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of experience in strategic finance at high-growth companies, PE/VC investing, or investment banking. Experience at a usage-based software company is a plus. You'll need strong financial modeling and analytical skills, comfort synthesizing complex information into clear executive recommendations, and the ability to operate as a generalist in a fast-moving environment. Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency is required; SQL or BI tool familiarity is valued. High intellectual curiosity about AI, infrastructure, and developer tooling is expected.
