Checkmarx is an AI-powered application security platform trusted by 1,600+ customers across 70+ countries, including Fortune 200 enterprises and governments. The company provides unified solutions for securing software across development, cloud, and supply chain—protecting both human and AI-generated code from first line through runtime.
This Strategic Account Manager role focuses on the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona) and targets enterprise buyers in Developer/DevSecOps and Cybersecurity functions. You will own a named book of enterprise accounts, driving expansion within existing customers while building net-new pipeline in defined target accounts.
Key responsibilities include: owning the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through close; executing strategic account plans focused on expansion, renewals, and new growth; leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles using MEDDPICC methodology; conducting executive-level discovery aligned to business, security, and technology priorities; positioning Checkmarx's Application Security and Agentic AI solutions; partnering with Sales Engineering and Customer Success teams; and maintaining accurate pipeline and forecasting in Salesforce.
The ideal candidate brings proven quota attainment at Fortune 200+ scale, a track record of self-sourced (not inherited or marketing-sourced) pipeline creation, specific expansion and new-logo closing stories, and demonstrated expertise in complex enterprise sales cycles. You should be able to articulate MEDDPICC methodology through real deal examples, particularly around scoping Economic Buyer, Metrics, and Decision Criteria.
Quota is $1M–$1.5M annually. Year-one success means durable ownership of your install base, self-sourced net-new pipeline demonstrating hunting ability, and at least one closed-won or closed-expanded logo by Q3.
