HeartFlow is a publicly traded medical technology company (HTFL) pioneering AI-driven solutions for coronary artery disease diagnosis and management. The company's flagship product, HeartFlow FFR_CT Analysis, is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive cardiac test that provides 3D visualization of coronary arteries and blood flow assessment. Used by over 500,000 patients globally and cleared in the US, UK, Europe, Japan, and Canada, HeartFlow combines a decade of clinical AI expertise with cutting-edge technology. We are building a new Agentic AI initiatives team and seeking multiple Staff and Senior level engineers to architect and execute our next-generation autonomous medical technology platform. This is a greenfield opportunity to design production-grade agentic systems from scratch, translating our proven clinical AI success into autonomous, intelligent agents capable of multi-step medical reasoning and secure, scalable data workflows. Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing a robust, secure, scalable Agentic AI platform with standard patterns for multi-agent orchestration, state management, tool usage, and memory; driving technical execution of agent-driven product features from ideation through FDA-compliant production deployment; implementing advanced guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and reasoning validation loops to ensure safe, deterministic, accurate agent behavior in medical contexts; enabling agents to interact dynamically with complex medical data structures, EHRs, imaging pipelines, and internal APIs; collaborating with product managers, clinical experts, and data scientists to translate clinical needs into technical AI architectures; and mentoring junior/mid-level engineers while championing software engineering best practices. Required: 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Staff) of professional software engineering with proven production-grade shipping; deep hands-on experience building LLM applications with strong understanding of agentic architectures; experience with orchestration frameworks and vector databases; advanced proficiency in Python or Go plus solid grasp of microservices, API design, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP); passion for greenfield projects and ability to thrive in ambiguity. Nice-to-have: experience deploying AI in regulated industries (healthcare, finance) or navigating HIPAA/GDPR; active open-source contributions to LLM or agentic AI frameworks; advanced prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or RAG optimization experience.
