Snowflake is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Snowtrail team, focusing on query processing and execution optimization. In this role, you will design and build software systems that accelerate engineering team development velocity and provide quality validation, optimized for cost and performance. You'll work on large-scale distributed systems infrastructure, ensuring the team meets current customer needs while staying ahead of technological trends.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing query optimization and execution systems
- Building compiler infrastructure for database query processing
- Architecting and operating large-scale distributed systems
- Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams
- Ensuring high-quality software delivery to production
- Evaluating and adopting emerging technologies to improve team efficiency
You should have deep experience with SQL and database technologies, including internal design and implementation. Expertise with MySQL or PostgreSQL internals, query optimization, and compiler design is essential. Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems are required. Experience with release validation pipelines and production test infrastructure is a plus.
