This Staff Software Engineer role is for someone who wants to define what ships next at billion-dollar scale. You'll take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them autonomously. You'll define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to customer-facing UI. You'll design and ship full-stack features end-to-end, working across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile.
The role is fully remote, open to US-based candidates. Samsara is hiring from Senior through Staff+ across platform and product, with flexible leveling shaped around the right person's strengths and interests. You'll have rare closeness to end users through customer interviews and collaboration with product and customer success teams. The company emphasizes building, not maintaining—you own entire problem spaces end-to-end with autonomy to set direction from day one. The software you build has real-world stakes: keeping workers safe, getting food into grocery stores, keeping the lights on.
