Qonto is seeking a Staff Product Manager with deep German accounting expertise to own the company's accounting product expansion in the German market. You will define the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Qonto's accounting offerings, working end-to-end with engineers, designers, and domain experts to build products that serve SMEs and their accountants.
Key responsibilities include owning the complete product roadmap for German accounting—deciding what to build, why, and in what order. You'll develop sharp understanding of German accounting workflows, DATEV ecosystem integration, and local compliance requirements. You'll define and execute the German accounting strategy by understanding customer needs, evaluating build-vs-partner decisions, and creating offerings genuinely tailored to German SMEs rather than localized versions of global products.
You'll leverage AI tools (Claude, Dust, Notion AI, Cursor, Copilot) as a product lever, identifying where automation and intelligence can transform accounting workflows. The role emphasizes challenging assumptions, prototyping rapidly, and pushing for best-in-class product outcomes. Your squad operates with maximum autonomy—you own decisions, pick approaches, and ship independently without approval layers or committee delays.
You'll report to Paul Mourot, Head of Product for Accounting, who previously served as CPO and co-founder at Semana, Head of Product at BCG Digital Ventures, and CPO at Tiime (an accounting-tech platform). Paul brings deep domain knowledge and a philosophy of hiring great people, providing context and autonomy, and letting the best ideas win.
Required qualifications: Deep German accounting domain expertise from working at or closely with a German accounting-tech company. Demonstrated track record of taking products from 0 to 1 or significantly scaling them, with outcomes-focused thinking and comfort making hard trade-offs. AI-native workflow—you actively use AI to supercharge research, analysis, spec writing, and user testing, viewing AI as a product lever. German fluency and strong English required to navigate the intensely local German accounting market and work cross-functionally across Qonto's European teams.
