Coursera and Udemy have merged to create a unified platform serving 300+ million learners and 12,000+ enterprise customers. As a Staff Product Designer, you will lead design strategy and execution for a major product area, partnering with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams to create scalable experiences that drive meaningful outcomes. You will own the design vision and strategic direction for your product area, ensuring design quality and craft excellence across the entire product lifecycle. This involves defining and navigating ambiguous, complex problem spaces by leveraging customer, business, and operational insights to frame initiatives and establish a strategic point of view. Key responsibilities include designing new functionality within existing systems while driving the definition of new patterns and formats as the space evolves. You will partner closely with research and data leads to synthesize quantitative and qualitative insights into actionable design recommendations that shape product direction. A core aspect of this role is applying AI fluently as a design tool—using AI to accelerate discovery, ideation, prototyping, and iteration while exercising sound judgment about when AI assistance genuinely helps versus when it shortcuts necessary thinking. You will communicate design rationale effectively to influence cross-functional and senior stakeholders, and mentor designers across pods to raise the bar for craft and storytelling. This role sits at the center of platform strategy as Coursera and Udemy redefine how the world learns, particularly in the context of AI-driven skill development. Required: 10+ years as a UX or Product Designer with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex solutions. Strong expertise in core UX methods (user research, workshops, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping), interaction and visual design, design systems, responsive and mobile-first design, Figma/FigJam, and working fluency with AI tools in design. Demonstrated history of influencing cross-functional partners and mentoring designers. Preferred: Experience designing AI-driven or agentic products, consumer SaaS/enterprise/EdTech platforms, and using AI tools to fundamentally change your design workflow.
