Perplexity is seeking an experienced Lead Product Designer to own design for Growth, shaping the user experiences that drive adoption and engagement across their AI answer engine and search product. You'll focus on the highest-leverage moments in the user journey: first-run onboarding and activation, consumer acquisition surfaces, conversion and upsell flows, paywalls and pricing, and retention loops that transform first-time users into daily active users. In this role, you'll balance craft and rigor with growth impact—understanding that small design decisions can move meaningful metrics. You'll pair a high bar for visual and interaction design with a data-driven approach to experimentation, shipping constantly and letting real usage guide decisions. You'll lead design across the full funnel, from acquisition through retention. Key responsibilities include designing first-run and onboarding experiences that get users to value quickly, crafting consumer acquisition and activation surfaces, designing conversion and upsell flows including paywalls and pricing comparisons, and running experiments to measure impact. You'll work deeply cross-functionally with Growth and Product Marketing teams on positioning, messaging, landing experiences, and funnel strategy. You'll also contribute to design process improvements to ensure the team ships changes consistently and with pride. You should have 5+ years of industry experience designing consumer or prosumer products with a strong track record in growth design. You understand growth nuances deeply: onboarding, activation, acquisition, conversion, upsells, paywalls, pricing, and retention. You're data-informed and fluent in experimentation, funnels, and metrics. You can think strategically about both 0→1 product design and large-scale optimization. You have excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills, and you're an excellent communicator with both team members and users. Above all, you care about shipping great software. Nice-to-have skills include comfort prototyping or coding your ideas, and experience with React or SwiftUI—some of Perplexity's design team writes production code.
