Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure hardware and software to support the energy transition. The company has developed intelligent, software-defined solid-state transformers (SSTs) based on a decade of advanced medium-voltage research, now ready for commercial deployment. These products are faster to deploy, smaller, more efficient, and capable of supporting modern dynamic energy needs for AI data centers, electric vehicle charging, and industrial applications.
As Staff Integration and Validation Engineer, you will serve as the technical validation lead for a major SST subsystem, owning the complete validation lifecycle from first bring-up through design validation, qualification, and continuous regression testing. You will design and develop test systems for high-voltage, high-current power electronics, including load banks, source/sink and back-to-back converter setups, and thermal chambers.
Key responsibilities include: characterizing and validating electrical, thermal, and performance behavior across prototype, pre-production, and production builds (efficiency, switching behavior, gate drive integrity, insulation coordination, derating); owning and automating the regression suite so every hardware revision and firmware release meets the same quality bar; driving root cause analysis on failures and field escapes; collaborating with hardware design, firmware, magnetics, mechanical, and systems teams from architecture reviews onward; mentoring engineers and technicians on high-voltage practice and debug methodology; establishing and upholding high-voltage safety practices in the lab; and traveling to facilities worldwide to collaborate and deploy solutions.
You will challenge ideas with first-principles reasoning and push for design-for-test and design-for-validation features before layouts are frozen. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone with deep power electronics expertise and a track record of owning complex validation programs end-to-end.
