Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure hardware and software to support the energy transition. The company has developed intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products based on advanced medium-voltage solid-state transformer technology, now ready for commercial deployment. With offices in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, the team is focused on solving critical power infrastructure challenges at scale.
As Staff Integration and Validation Engineer, you will own the validation strategy and execution for a major solid-state transformer subsystem, from initial design validation through production ramp and sustaining releases. This is a technical leadership role where you drive the test strategy, build and maintain sophisticated test systems for high-voltage, high-current power electronics, and ensure every hardware revision and firmware release meets rigorous performance standards.
Key responsibilities include: designing and developing test systems (load banks, source/sink converters, thermal chambers); characterizing electrical, thermal, and performance behavior across prototype through production builds; owning the regression test suite and automating continuous validation; tracing product requirements to validation tests and identifying coverage gaps early; driving root cause analysis on failures and field escapes; defining manufacturing test specifications for volume production; innovating test system design to optimize accuracy, cycle time, cost, and safety; collaborating with hardware design, firmware, magnetics, mechanical, and systems teams; mentoring engineers and technicians on high-voltage practices and debug methodology; and establishing high-voltage safety protocols in the lab.
You will work hands-on with complex power electronics validation, from measurement uncertainty quantification to full-system interaction debugging. Travel to different facilities worldwide is expected to collaborate with teams and deploy solutions.
